Lucy López-Roig EAP’s evolution over the past 30 years can best be understood by a brief review of its history.
Founded in 1978: Lucy López-Roig & Associates
Lucy López-Roig & Associates, was founded in 1978 in San Juan Puerto Rico, by Dr. Lucy López-Roig and Dr. Marion A. Wennerholm. Inspired by the example of their mentor, Dr. Carlos Albizu Miranda, the founding partners (both holding doctorates in psychology from Purdue University) shared a vision of the service excellence and humanistic values of the firm.
The firm was dedicated to providing clinical and industrial/organizational psychology services to the Puerto Rican community. Over the years, it has expanded its professional services to include other areas such as human resources consulting, education, and speech-language pathology.
The firm has worked with hundreds of organizations in Puerto Rico, including private enterprise, government agencies, schools, non-profit and religious institutions, and centers of higher education. We have designed and conducted surveys (e.g., organizational climate, job satisfaction, customer service), program evaluations, training programs and seminars, organizational development strategies to improve the climate and effectiveness of the work site, test construction and validation, executive coaching, and human resources consulting.
To date, our Managerial Assessment Center has evaluated over 7,000 people for different positions, including upper management candidates, nominees for key positions in the executive and judicial branches of the government, and applicants for law enforcement positions.
In the areas of clinical and counseling psychology, the firm’s Centro Clínico Roig is the principal service provider for the Employee Assistance Program. It also serves private clients, offering individual psychotherapy, couples therapy, family therapy, psychological evaluation, and crisis intervention services. Over the past 30 years, our psychologists have seen more than 9,000 clinical cases.
The firm's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has evolved to become one of the most significant on the island, not only in terms of its size but also because of the breadth and depth of its services. Its services are designed to contribute to higher productivity and improved quality of life in the workplace. The EAP serves hundreds of organizations located throughout Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Throughout its history, the firm has worked toward promoting community mental health. It has created innovative service programs for students, parents and teachers in public and private schools in Puerto Rico. It has also designed and implemented programs for vocational school students and youth at high risk for dropping out of school. The firm has worked with public housing communities in programs designed to prevent crime and empower the residents by training them in basic conflict resolution skills.
Aware of its Corporate Social Responsibility, LLR-EAP has actively supported the work of non-for-profit service organizations, such as Centro Beth Yash’ah (a volunteer-based center in San Juan that provides orientation and crisis support services free of charge to economically disadvantaged members of the local community) and centers for the aging.Milestones
